International applicants

International and RPL (Recognition for Prior Learning) applications can now be submitted online

With over 3 000 international students registered at CPUT annually, from more than 74 countries, speaking over 100 languages, CPUT is a thriving cosmopolitan centre for cultural, social and political exchange.

All applicants interested for formal qualifications are support by the Application and Registration Centre (ARC).

This unit reports directly to the Registrar and they are responsible for evaluating all international undergraduate and postgraduate applications. 

All international undergraduate qualifications, obtained must first be evaluated and verified as follows:

1. South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) when applying for:

  • Certificates
  • Diplomas, and
  • Postgraduate studies

2. USAF matriculation board when applying for:

  • Bachelor’s degree

3. Postgraduate applications:

  • All qualification documents need to include the SAQA evaluation for each qualification, i.e. the highest school certificate issued by the official examining body (matric); complete and legible transcripts of academic records in respect of all degrees or other Higher Education qualifications, together with the final certificates; preceding qualifications leading to any postgraduate/ other advanced qualification when the latter is submitted. Certificates in foreign languages should be submitted together with translations into English by a sworn translator. The relevant evaluation fee can be obtained from SAQA in Pretoria.

SAQA is responsible for issuing of Letter of Undertaking which contains the duration of the study and is submitted to the SA High Commission in order to apply for the study visa.
