Survival Centre

The Survival Centre, superbly positioned at Granger Bay, next to the V&A Waterfront and Table Bay Harbour, is just 4 km from the heart of Cape Town. The enclosed harbour area and extensive training facilities have provided an ideal centre for maritime training over the past 40 years.

The Survival Centre is a full member of the International Association for Safety and Survival Training (IASST). All maritime safety courses are accredited by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) via the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). The Survival Centre's Quality Management System is Certified by the SABS according to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015. All courses are based on international requirements adapted to local operational conditions where applicable.

As part of our Community Outreach Initiatives, we provide all relevant Training to NSRI Volunteers and especially the Air/ Sea Rescue Team which incorporates the SAAF. We also provide training to all relevant rescue services such as the AMS, and SAPS. We pride ourselves in providing training to all Maritime Rescue Services on an ongoing basis.

Written or oral examination and practical exam completed on the last day.

Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats - Refresher

Candidates wishing to attend this refresher training must be in possession of a STCW ' 78, as amended, CISC certificate. (Candidate must satisfy sea time requirement or equivalent when applying for their COP at the relevant authority). Must be 18 years or older and medically fit.
