Part-time ICT Academy courses
Part-Time Cisco courses at CPUT are made up of four modules that are presented two evenings per week over the course of a year. Thus a student will be able to complete the full CCNA within one year (one module per term).
There are two part-time courses available CCNA Route and Switch and CCNP Route and Switch including CCNA Security.
Modules are presented on alternate evenings from 17h00 to 20h30 (i.e. Monday and Wednesday: CCNA, or Tuesday and Thursday evenings: CCNP / CCNA Security).
Year 1: CCNA Route and Switch
The CCNA Routing and Switching curriculum is designed for students who are seeking entry-level jobs in the ICT industry or hope to fulfill prerequisites to pursue more specialized ICT skills. CCNA Routing and Switching provides extensive coverage of networking topics, from fundamentals to advanced applications and services, with plenty of opportunities to gain hands-on practical experience and develop career skills. In each course, students learn technology concepts with the support of interactive media and apply and practice this knowledge through a series of hands-on and simulated activities that reinforce learning.

The CCNP certification is designed for engineers who are ready to advance their skills and work independently on complex network solutions. Those who achieve CCNP Routing and Switching have demonstrated the skills required in enterprise roles such as network engineer, support engineer, systems engineer or network technician.
The CCNA R&S is a required prior to being accepted into the CCNP course.
