Short Courses

To be accepted for the course Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than Fast Rescue Boats) Refresher, candidates shall have:

1. Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than Fast Rescue Boats) completion certificate within the last seven (7) years and at least 12 months sea service in the last five years
2. A valid SAMSA Seafarer Medical Certificate

Recommendations

Please bring the following on Day 1:

• ID or passport
• SAMSA medical certificate (or equivalent)
• Previous SCRB certificate

Seaman’s book as proof of sea service (12 months in the last 5 years)

All SAMSA‑certified seafarers, as well as foreign seafarers whose Certificates of Competency are recognised in terms of the relevant SAMSA Marine Notice on the Recognition of Foreign Seafarer Certificates of Competency (STCW Convention), who are required to complete the Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than Fast Rescue Boats) Refresher Course.
