Entrance Requirements
• Minimum of 12 months’ current experience in a management/ supervisory/ team leadership role in his/ her organisation, attested to in writing by his/ her senior.• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with English, Mathematics/Maths Literacy/Accountancy.• In the absence of a National Senior Certificate (NSC), the following will be required in order to be considered:
o Demonstrable evidence of management/ supervisory experience submitted in a Portfolio of Evidence; and
o The completion of a Numeracy and Literacy test
Target Audience
Current practicing managers and supervisors/ team leaders who lack formal managerial qualifications
Course Structure
Subject Title:
• Management Theory and Practice (Semester One and Two)
• Financial Management Methods and Applications (Semester One and Two)
• Project Management Principles and Implementation (Semester One and Two)
• Industrial Relations and Labour Law for Business (Semester One and Two)
Assessment and Certification
Assessment dates and deadlines for tests, projects and assignments will be detailed in the subject guides.Certificates of Competence are issued on successful completion of the programme.Certificates of Competence are issues together with academic transcripts which provide a descriptive record of the achievement levels attained by the participant in the various assessments attached to the subjects.Certificates of Attendance or Participation are issued to participants who have attended and/or participated in classes and other learning activities, however have not completed the Management Development Programme.Access pathway into the Diploma in Management:
Candidates receiving a certificate of Competence, have the choice to articulate via the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process to the HEQSF aligned Diploma in Management offered in the Department of Management and Project Management.
Portfolios of evidence (POE’s) will be required only by those students choosing to articulate to the Diploma in Management. This is to satisfy Recognition of Prior Learning requirements
