Management is a growing professional discipline and applied science which is currently making major inroads within the business, industrial, government and related sectors in South Africa. Planning and Planning Techniques the first management function: planning defined; need for planning; types and uses of plans; planning process; tools and techniques for planning.
Problem Solving and Decision-Making: Rational problem-solving process; division of work; organisational structure; organisational design; power, authority; delegation and decentralisation.
Organisational Design; division of work; organisational structure; power, authority; delegation and decentralisation.
Leading: leadership, theories of leadership, labour relations (brief overview) motivation.
Controlling: meaning of control; the control process; importance of control, types of control methods, design of the control process; financial control methods.

A student who abandons the programme or course must immediately complete the necessary documentation at the Faculty Office, CGM. It is your responsibility to find out liabilities in terms of fees if you discontinue the programme or course.

{Assessment and Certification"}

The workplace of the 21st century is about accountability. Assessment is a key feature of any training and education programme. Assessment is a process that involves collecting evidence about your performance, matching the evidence to set outcomes and making a judgment to determine if you are competent to be a manager in the 21st century.Methods of assessment for the course Management 1 include a formative assessment and summative assessment.You must obtain a final mark of 50% to be awarded full competence in the course Management 1. All work submitted during the semester will count towards the final mark. The final mark will be compiled according to the following structure:
- Scheduled test 60%
- Class Tests 40%
