Archives Management
The Archives promote knowledge and understanding of the origins, aims, programs, and goals of the university. It provides information services that will assist the operation of the university in addition to serving research and scholarship by making available and encouraging the use of its collection by members of the university and the community at large.
The main purpose of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) Archives is to serve as the central, final repository and to support teaching and learning.
The CPUT Archives collection is currently curated between the years 1911 and 2021. More recent Archival material (CPUT) is still in the process of arrangement and description.

Our Archives comprise a vast collection starting back as far as CPUT's very first institution:
- Salt River Technical Institute 1911 – 1920s.
- Cape Technical College 1920s -1950s.
- Cape College for Advanced Technical Education 1968-1979.
- Cape Technikon 1970s - 2004.
- Peninsula Technikon 1983 – 2004.

Gifts and Donations
The Archives encourage the community to donate to the CPUT Archives all University-related records or other archival material.
The University Archivist will appraise the collection before acceptance and should it compliment the collection, it is then the universities property and cannot be sent back to the donor.

- A Staff member will assist with using the finding aids and finding the documents.
- Photographs can be scanned.
- The Archive is open to researchers from Mondays to Fridays between 08:00 am and 15:00 pm
- Lunch hour 13:00-14:00
- The Archive is closed on public holidays and weekends.
