General Meeting info

Yesterday a large group of stakeholders met to discuss the details of the upcoming mass General Meeting to be held tomorrow. As per the students' request, the venue for this meeting has changed from Bellville to Cape Town campus Please see below for full meeting information.
Please be advised that the Executive Committee of Senate decided today to suspend all academic activities on all CPUT campuses with immediate effect. Students completing internships/ in-service training will be allowed to continue with these.  All academic activities will be resumed on Friday 21 October.

Parents and guardians of current CPUT students are invited to a general assembly of the university to discuss and deliberate on the current situation faced by the institution.

By now those of you who are scheduled to write assessments or have contact classes at the Wingfield Military Base in Goodwood will have been communicated to directly by your faculty.

Since our last communication with you things on our different campuses have been relatively quiet and no major incidents of violence or intimidation were reported.

Current status

Our attempts to resume normal university activities today were  frustrated by large groups of protesting students who disrupted classes on most of our campuses. The Bellville campus was particularly hard hit where students had running battles with police and security guards .

Classes to commence on Tuesday

Normal university activities are expected to resume on Tuesday, 11 October. Classes remain suspended tomorrow (Monday, 10 October) but all students should return to classes on Tuesday.
