Academic’s PhD a first for SA

A CPUT academic has become the first person in South Africa to earn a PhD in Forensic Medicine and his work is helping to improve the forensic accountability with which emergency care providers respond to victims of gender-based violence.

A third-year Accounting student and activist, who is passionate about human rights, will be jetting off to Lagos, Nigeria this weekend after being selected for theCANVASSITY Pan African Youth Democracy Fellowship.

Delft Dad’s big plans

After matriculating Ornette Danse’s biggest ambition was to work at SAPS as a switchboard operator.

The blind father of three was so determined to realise this dream that he worked as a switchboard operator at a police station for free for an entire year. This sacrifice eventually paid off when he was recruited into the SAPS's busy 10111 call centre.

While juggling his studies, work and maintain his family in Rwanda, a married father of two will be receiving his Master’s in Business Administration in Entrepreneurship with cum laude during this Summer Graduation.

She had won second place in the regional competition, so the win at the national competition came as a complete surprise for Luzane Aiken, a BTech Electrical Engineering student from Atlantis.
