CPUT engineering labs turn pro

South Africa’s future technicians will soon be training in state of the art laboratories thanks to a partnership between CPUT and engineering industry specialist RS Components.

Tasked with providing innovative support for small and medium enterprises in the food sector, the Agrifood Technology Station (ATS) recently debuted its state-of-the-art Sensory Facility.

Today CPUT Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr John Volmink accepted an R8 million donation from Absa Bank toward student funding.

CPUT’s objective of providing students with hands-on training and practical skills has been bolstered through a partnership programme with a Norwegian institution.

An academic in the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences will be teaming up with European universities in research collaboration projects for which funding will be solicited from the European Union (EU).

A generous R7.2 million bursary allocation from the Energy and Water Sector Training Authority (EWSETA) will improve the academic lives of 123 CPUT students.

The Department of Student Affairs (DSA) has introduced a Learn to Sail programme, which equips students with a set of life skills while enjoying sailing.
