Improving employability of CPUT graduates

PARTNERS: Members of the SAP team and CPUT staff that are collaborating in a programme that will improve the employability of CPUT graduates PARTNERS: Members of the SAP team and CPUT staff that are collaborating in a programme that will improve the employability of CPUT graduates

A unique and exciting programme which equips graduates with market-relevant skills that will improve their employability has been launched at CPUT in collaboration with SAP - the world's largest enterprise software company.

Their SAP Skills for Africa programme will be launching its 5th chapter at the Cape Town CPUT campus this month. The objective for both parties is to   contribute to sustainable workplaces for the next generation of local talent in the region.

Following the success of the SAP Skills for Africa programme in various countries on the continent, CPUT will be hosting the first Cape Town SAP Skills for Africa programme. Successful graduates of the twelve week programme will lead to Global SAP certification.

“The programme invests meaningfully in the future workforce and delivers a comprehensive programme which combines technical and soft skill elements over a set period of time,” says Meena Confait, Head of SAP Skills for Africa.

“At the end of the program and upon successful graduation the trainees become certified SAP consultants, with a guaranteed job placement within the SAP ecosystem.”

Once certified, students are placed in SAP’s partnering business company for an internship of up to 12 months. Many of these internships translate into ongoing jobs.

The SAP team and their business partners interviewed several unemployed CPUT graduates in IT, Accounting, Financial Information Systems, Stats, Engineering and Maths to determine their eligibility for the programme.

Successful graduates will receive a free three-month full time SAP training programme and hands-on simulated project exercises.

CPUT has been a partner in the globally acclaimed SAP University Alliances programme since 2009 and also offers SAP Certification short courses.
