CPUT has received a welcome boost in research funding, which will ensure that researcher have access to a broad range of funding choices

The University has recently signed a contract with Research Africa (RA) that will expose researchers to a wide range of funding opportunities from various institutions.

Prof Dina Burger, Director of Research, says the agreement will see CPUT working closely with RA to customize researchers’ needs with the services it offers.

RA possesses a myriad of research funding opportunities which are accessible via its Research Professional Africa platform.

With a subscription to the platform, researchers gain access to a database of funding opportunities such as research grants, scholarships and fellowships in all disciplines.

“We’re going into the next phase of our relationship with them following a successful trial run,” says Burger.

She says that the university will continuously monitor and assess the value for money that they benefit from RA in order to ensure the sustainability of the partnership and growing proposition for its researchers.

“I am optimistic and positive that the signing of today’s agreement will create yet another opportunity for our researchers to advance scholarship on issues of concern for South Africa and beyond.”

She expressed her gratitude to the university’s Advancement Department for their generosity to co-sponsor the services obtained through RA using external donor funding.

It was agreed that RA’s Regional Subscription Sales Executive, Emile Bruwer, will run training workshops on how to access the site and navigate the database for both front-end users and back office administrators.
