Well-designed courses and an opportunity to develop skills in industry gave businessman Oscar Tseoute the competitive advantage over his competitors when entering the job market.

An CPUT Alumnus, Tseoute, who is the Regional Parts Manager for Volkswagen (VW) in the Western Province, recently returned to his alma mater to address Office Management and Technology (OMT) students on the benefits of graduating with a qualification from CPUT.

“I think that coming from a reputable institution such as CPUT gives one a competitive edge over counterparts from other universities,” he says.

Tseoute says his course equipped him with the correct skills that he needed to survive in industry.

After graduating, Tseoute clinched a spot in the VW Graduate Trainee Programme and was later appointed as the Brand Coordinator. He held various other positions and six years ago was appointed Regional Parts Manager.

Tseoute and his friends also started KHONA Café, a franchised container-based business that gives people access to the Internet and basic business technology and services at an affordable price.
