Launch of 16 Days of Activism against the abuse of Women and Children

All Staff are invited to the launch of the 16 days of activism against the abuse of women and children.

Sponsored by: WC Department of Social Development
Hosted by: CPUT Wellington Campus
Date: 25 - 26 November 2009
Venue: CP van der Merwe Hall
RSVP: Noxolo Fihlani by 18 November 2009
Tel: 021 8645531

As we all know, violence against and abuse of women and children in SA has reached unacceptable proportions. It affects the human rights and dignity of people, particularly those that are vulnerable and in some cases defenseless.

As such the SA Constitution and other pieces of legislation address matters to protect its citizens against such abuse.

The CPUT Wellington campus will host the launch of this event over two days, 25 and 26 November. We expect about 250 delegates (mostly from the WC) to arrive from the 24th November already. About 50 will be accommodated at some of our residences for the duration of the conference.

The conference will take place in the CP van der Merwe hall. Meals will be served in the Coaten hall. Five break-away rooms have been identified which will be used by the delegates.

The WC Department of Social Development is the Sponsoring Agent for the event. The National Minister of Social Services has indicated that she would like to attend. Other prominent dignitaries have been invited too.

Kind regards
