The purpose of the Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management is to produce graduates that will have extended knowledge and skills by providing them with a deeper and systemic understanding of the current thinking, practice, theory, and methodology within the field of Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management.
Graduates would be able to handle complex Hospitality, Tourism and Event industry related problems, both systematically and creatively, and design and critically appraise research / enquiry.
Furthermore, graduates will be able to conduct independent planning and implementation of research projects with a theoretical underpinning.
Graduates will be able to apply a systematic understanding of research methodology, design, data collection and analysis.
Through the research process, graduates will demonstrate a depth of understanding of current and developing Hospitality, Tourism and Event issues and a professional level research approach.
The minimum admission requirements will be an Advanced Diplomas or equivalent/relevant qualification, or Bachelor's Degrees in related fields or a Baccalaureus Technologiae in related fields or an equivalent qualification at NQF Level 7.
Preference will be given to applicants with an average of 60%.
Holders of any other equivalent South African or international qualification may also be considered where the qualification level relates to NQF 7 and where the Business Management field of study relates to Hospitality / Tourism / Event Management disciplines.
Students who do not qualify may appeal to the Faculty of Business Management Sciences and HoD(s).
Students may also enrol for this qualification through RPL by submission of a portfolio of evidence. Selection criteria may include work experience at midmanagerial level / being a working professional is a pre-requisite with at least two years, however the discretion of the HoD(s) may apply case to case.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Internal Auditing programme aims to impart appropriate CPUT graduate attributes to students. It enhances critical and innovative thinking skills in the field of Internal Auditing through intensive modules that are technically adept with infused practical components in the modules. Modules aim to enhance graduate employability and develop competencies, which include identifying, analysing, synthesising, and critically reflecting on and addressing complex familiar and unfamiliar problems in the identified functional areas and applying evidence-based solutions and theory-driven arguments in internal auditing. This is achieved through learning and teaching using innovative and contemporary scientific equipment. In addition, the programme aims to inculcate the culture of community engagement among students through research projects that require interaction with internal auditing and risk compliance environments relevant to addressing current industry issues.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Internal Auditing is pitched at NQF level 8. Admission requirements for this programme are an appropriate Advanced Diploma or Bachelor's degree or equivalent NQF level 7 qualification with Internal Auditing and Accounting/Financial Information Systems at NQF level 7 as approved by SAQA.

The sport and leisure industry is rapidly professionalising and has a need for managers who have competent business and leadership skills combined with an understanding of the nuances and challenges of the global and local sport and leisure industry. This programme aims to assist mid-level managers or part-time employed workers within the sport and leisure industry to improve or update their management, leadership and specialist knowledge skills at an academic and applied level. The programme aims to produce professional sport and leisure managers who demonstrate ethical and socially responsible behaviours, effective collaboration skills, accountability, and professional communication skills The programme aims to deepen the knowledge of graduates who already have a foundational academic background in sport and leisure or general business management theory, as well as some sport and leisure industry experience or involvement, to allow deeper engagement with contemporary management principles, practices and technology at the forefront of professional practice in this field.
Technological capability, resilience, innovation and problem -solving, and relational and ethical development are threads that run through each of the subjects. These subjects are: strategic sport industry management; applied sport and leisure research; digital marketing and new media; event and smart stadium management; and technology applications for sport performance.
Applicants need to have successfully completed the Advanced Diploma in Sport and Leisure Management (or the former BTech Sport Management). Applicants with a sport-, leisure- or business-related qualification at an NQF level 7, including from the General/Academic pathway (e.g. B.A., BCom or BSc degrees) as well as international qualification equivalents, are also eligible to apply.
Applicants not meeting the minimum entry requirements but who have relevant industry experience and formal or informal learning in related fields may be able to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to gain access.
Graduates from the Advanced Diploma in Sport and Leisure Management (or a similar NQF level 7 qualification), will be selected on merit. A minimum of at least a 60% grade average for the NQF level 7 qualification is required. However, this is dependent on the results of the cohort of applicants for a specific year. In addition to academic merit, industry relevant experience and sport industry involvement or participation may be used as selection criteria.
Graduates will enhance their professional practice, career development and academic advancement by gaining applied knowledge and professional skills in selected contemporary sport management areas. In particular, graduates will gain skills and awareness of: management and leadership in a changing environment; national legislation, policies and key government priorities; digital business and marketing; event and smart stadium management; using technology applications to promote, assess and enhance wellness and sport performance; and conducting a capstone, industry-focused research project that provides a solution for an industry problem.
This programme offers a progression route for graduate students to access the Master of Sport Management (NQF level 9 qualification).
The qualification will provide the necessary education; training and experiential learning that will capacitate learners for careers in this industry.
