Research Unit of Engineering & the Built Environment Educations
Research Unit of Engineering & the Built Environment Education (RUEBEE)
The Education Research Unit RUEBEE aims to promote critical dialogue on curriculum design and delivery within CPUT and the broader community and enhance the educational experiences of our students. To achieve its aim, it will conduct scholarly research of contextual and discipline-specific factors that contribute to student success, employability, curriculum inclusiveness, the pedagogy of teaching, learning and assessment in the related disciplines, and professionalism.
Such research will provide the principles, methodologies, and educational practices upon which to continuously build innovative and transformative curricula that produce graduates that contribute to society. RUEBEE is Headed by Dr Mohammad Pourbehi.
How do you pronounce RUEBEE? Easy, just like the gemstone Ruby.
The objectives of RUEBEE are:
- To conduct and disseminate scholarly research in education relevant to FEBE.
- To promote knowledge sharing of teaching and learning best practices and student-centred innovations among CPUT’s engineering faculty.
- To foster interdisciplinary collaboration across the departments of FEBE by initiating multi-department research projects and funding applications.
- Develop and deliver innovative and transformative curricula that produce graduates that contribute to society.
The unit is divided into four clusters, with the following Lead Researchers:
