Creating partnerships

CPUT staff and students will soon jet off to Shanghai after the university clinched a deal with Shanghai Dian Ji University.

The universities recently signed a memorandum of agreement which will see engineering staff and students of both institutions participate in exchange programmes.

Dean of Engineering Dr Nawaz Mahomed says they are exploring a number of projects on which the two universities can collaborate.

“It is important for collaborations to be useful and to benefit everyone,” he says.

The programme is set to commence in 2013 with four CPUT students and one staff member travelling to Shangai to work on a project over several months. Students from Shanghai Dian Ji University will also spend several months working on a project at CPUT.

Vice President of Shanghai Dian Ji University, Xu Yu Fa says they are looking forward to collaborating with CPUT and growing the partnership.
