The CPUT performing arts society recently showcased their talents at the Polytechnic of Namibia’s annual cultural festival.
Our students first visited the Polytechnic of Namibia last year, as part of the Department of Students Affairs objective of strengthening international relations.
The visit culminated in an international exchange programme between the two Student Affairs Departments.
The week-long festival features performers from all over Africa and the rest of the world, says Marysa Leukes, Student Development Officer responsible for Arts & Culture at CPUT.
The performance by the CPUT Performing Arts Society was one of the highlights of the festival’s official opening.

CPUT students performed traditional isiXhosa dances as well as gumboot dances. They also prepared a traditional cuisine which was included in the international cuisine display.
The festival, which was held under the theme ‘Culture is the cornerstone of humanity’, featured a range of shows and events including traditional dance and music performances, a flea market and live poetry.
