Friday, 04 October 2013
Morgan State University is the latest higher education institution to enter into a partnership with CPUT.
The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Agreement that will foster staff and student exchanges as well as research and innovation collaborations.
MSU is one of 105 historically black higher education institutions in the US. The university boasts 8100 students and is currently the number one university in the US for producing black electrical, civil and industrial engineers.
Like CPUT, the Baltimore-based university focuses on science and technology careers and offers a range of opportunities for academic and research collaborations.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Academic, Prof Anthony Staak told the delegation that internationalisation is a key strategic thrust at CPUT.
The university boast an impressive list of internationally partnerships with higher education institutions and other organisations in 55 countries, however, there are few agreements with institutions in the US.
Staak says the agreement with MSU will create opportunities for CPUT to enter into more mutually beneficial partnerships with institutions in the US.
President of MSU Dr David Wilson says they are looking forward to developing a strong partnership with CPUT.
Wilson visited the former Peninsula Technikon several years ago and says he is impressed with the development that has taken place since the establishment of CPUT.
