Pattern Development 1
This practical pattern development course is ideal for patternmakers who wish to improve their skill and knowledge and, and advance their career in the field of pattern making.
At the end of the course delegates will be able to produce a range of basic patterns and apply grading rules. This course provides a sound basis for further study and career development.
• Interpret technical drawings
• Create a pattern using either block pattern or base pattern according to tech-nical drawing & customer specifications
• Use pattern making techniques to make patterns for a range of garments Assess fit, proportion, balance & overall styling of garment
• Alter pattern according to styling & fit requirements Grade pattern according to size range
• Prepares specification sheets
• Demonstrates understanding of different fabric types, trimmings, fastenings and other construction details

Practical assessments are done on a continuous basis. A portfolio of the students work is presented for final assessment and moderation at the end of the year.
