Financial Accounting and Taxation

img fin acc deptOur programmes lead to membership of two professional institutes: for financial accounting there is The Southern African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) and for taxation the South African Institute of Tax Practitioners (SAIT). Membership of the two institutes mentioned will support alumni students throughout their professional careers. The department has developed a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Taxation.

The schematic provides an overview of the subjects to be covered at various years. Important to note: In the 3rd year of the diploma, it needs to be understood that an elective needs to be chosen between Corporate Procedures and Accounting Information Systems 2. Corporate Procedures is the elective to be undertaken should the student wish to articulate (intend to register) for the Advanced Diploma in Accountancy. Accountancy Information Systems 2 is the elective to be undertaken for articulation to the Advanced Diploma in Internal Auditing.
