The First African Conference on Natural Products and Related Fields

The Natural Products chemistry group @ CPUT (Prof Ahmed Hussein, Cape Town, South Africa) in collaboration with Natural Bioactives Research Domain @ Universidade Lusófona (Prof Patricia Rijo; Lisboan, Portugal) will host the African Natural Product Chemistry conference from 24-25th May 2022.

Africa has a prestigious traditional medicine situation among other continent where high and amazing human diversity meet with natural diversity. African are strongly relying on their natural resources for food and medical treatments.

The call for the first international African conference on natural products and related fields is urgently needed to present most updated research on the global natural products and their applications in different arenas of human activities such as food, medicine and cosmetics.

The purpose of the conference is to bring to researchers from different niche areas of natural products research in one roof to strengthen and promote indigenous knowledge systems and sustainable use of natural resources. Special focus will be on natural products contribution to drug discovery and/or offering starting raw materials for cosmetic industry.

The first African conference will be virtual and free of charges for African researchers and will feature the recent advances from all fields related to natural products research.

Participants are invited to prepare their abstract on one of the following sub-themes:

  • Natural products diversity
  • Drug discovery
  • Herbal medicine documentation and activity
  • Natural products isolation and characterization/Phytochemistry
  • Natural products discovery and formulation in cosmetics field
