Work-Integrated Learning

The placement of final year Diploma students in an Industry is referred to as a 'work-integrated-learning' placement. Previously, it was also referred to as 'in-service training' or 'cooperative learning'. Analytical Chemistry students spend the first two years of the Diploma on establishing the fundamentals of Chemistry, followed by the third year in a Chemistry Industry, which covers a wide spectrum of Chemical Industries, for example, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food, paints, paper, wine, etc. These industries are both local, i.e. in the Western Cape or outside the Western Cape.
