CPUT Convocation Covid Fund - #KeepCreatingFutures

The Convocation of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) together with the Advancement Office in an attempt to respond to the effects of the global Covid-19 crisis have established a relief fund for its most vulnerable students. The primary objective of the fund is to assist students with academic resources in order to complete the 2020 academic year.

The Convocation is recognised as a structure of the University in terms of paragraph 51 of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology Statute. It is composed of anyone who graduated from Pentech, Cape Tech and CPUT; all full time and retired academics; the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellors and Registrar.

While the institution, National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) have developed strategies to save the 2020 academic year and offer as much support to all students, the reality is that it will not be enough to cover all the student needs. A fund of this nature is therefore vital, particularly for an institution such as CPUT with a large number of students from economically disadvantaged families.

This relief fund will thus assist in procuring the necessary equipment for the students in order to complete and/or progress to the next phase of their qualifications. These are limited to laptops, data, special equipment and e-books.

Transparency and accountability for the funds raised is our promise to you, we invite you therefore to heed the call and support our students by donating to the fund through any of the methods listed below.
