Award for Service Excellence delivered by Administrative and Support Staff
Preamble
The Vice-Chancellor's Campus Excellence Service Awards are designed to recognise and reward the outstanding contributions made by Cape Peninsula University campuses' support and administrative staff members. This award aims to acknowledge their exceptional services in various areas, such as administrative tasks, maintenance services, protecting the safety of staff, students and CPUT buildings, rendering student services and enhancing the image of campuses.
The purpose of this award is the Vice-Chancellor's Award. Cape Peninsula University aims to foster a culture of excellence and recognise the invaluable contributions made by support and administrative staff members in creating a conducive learning and working environment.
Below are the guidelines for this prestigious award:
Eligibility
- All support and administrative staff members at Cape Peninsula University campuses are eligible for consideration. The award is open to individuals or teams with exceptional performance and dedication in their respective roles.
Criteria for Evaluation
- Excellence in Service: A staff member should have consistently provided outstanding support and administrative services to the university community on a particular campus.
- Innovation and Improvement: Staff should have implemented innovative approaches or improvements that have positively impacted the efficiency and effectiveness of their work area, living the value of being technologically astute.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Staff should have displayed a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration (unity and ubuntu), contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Staff and Student Satisfaction: Staff should have received positive feedback from students, faculty, and other stakeholders regarding their services.
- Contribution to the University: Staff should have significantly contributed to the university's overall development and success through their work.

- Any other senior manager may be deemed necessary to make an informed decision.
- The Office of the Vice-Chancellor will draft the Terms of Reference for the awards, publish the nomination (s), and conduct all publicity concerning the award recipients.
Nominations and Selection Process
The Office of the Vice-Chancellor makes an annual call for nominations, which should be sent to the Office by 31 October of a particular year. Nominations must include a well-formulated motivation and evidence of a deserving nominee’s excellence.
Any university community member, including faculty, students, and fellow staff members, can submit nominations. Nominations should include a detailed description of the candidate's exceptional services and how they meet the evaluation criteria.
Selection Process
The Vice-Chancellor will chair the Award Committee. Members may not make nominations but may collect additional information from nominees and interviews as deemed necessary.
Notification of the Outcome
The successful nominees will be informed in writing via email as soon as the Committee has made its final decisions. Awardees will be recognised publicly through a ceremony or event organised by the university. They may receive a certificate of recognition and a monetary reward as a token of appreciation for their exceptional services.
