Message from the Executive Director: Dean of Students

Congratulations on being accepted to study at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology!

We invite you to contribute towards creating a vibrant student life at an institution anchored in academic excellence, industrial relations and a growing body of research initiatives.

The Student Affairs and Services portfolio is composed of eight departments which individually and collectively strive to sustain a professional coherent student support presence in all campuses.

These departments are geared towards creating a caring and a nurturing environment where students’ psycho-social wellbeing is ensured.

We focus specifically on issues concerning social justice on campus, affording an equal opportunity and a student-centred support.

Student Affairs and Services acknowledges the critical role our staff members play on behalf of biological caregivers and guardians.

Our orientation programmes offer parents an opportunity to engage with our staff, peer helpers and the different student leadership layers which include the duly elected Student Representative Council (SRC).

As a registered CPUT student, please exercise your right and responsibility to support our professional services.

Participating in our activities will enable you to

  • grow and develop as a well rounded individual
  • support programmes advocating human dignity, social justice and equity
  • strive for physical and mental wellness
  • help ensure that residences remain safe and culturally inclusive spaces
  • balance the body and brain through sports and culturals activities
  • be part of a student body who will, upon graduation, lead a diverse and just world.

Let us jointly create supportive futures!

Cora Motale, Dean of Students
