CPUT graduates are not only a hit in industry but are also being acknowledged with overseas study opportunities.

Zanele Lurafu has been awarded a full scholarship by the Swedish Institute (SI) Study Scholarships to study towards a Master’s degree in Sweden.

Zanele, a BTech: Marketing graduate, will be jetting off in August to commence her studies.

She will be studying towards a Master’s Programme in Strategic Entrepreneurship for International Growth with specialization in Strategic Leadership at Halmstad University.

The scholarship is for the period of one year and pays for everything including accommodation, flights and local travel and subsistence costs.

Sweden is renowned for its exceptional design and innovation and Zanele says she looks forward to an inspirational year.

“From studying there, I hope to come up with an innovative idea that will add value to my country,” she says.

She adds that Halmstad University is among the best universities in the world for business courses.

“I want to create employment opportunities for unemployed graduates.”

After applying for the scholarship via the website of the Department of Higher Education and Training, Zanele underwent a rigorous selection process including writing a motivational letter.

“They were looking for future leaders who are motivated to bring about positive change,” she explains.

She plans to conduct her six-month research studies in another European country as her scholarship allows for it.
