The Technology Station: Clothing and Textiles has a number of specialised technologies available at its Bellville office for:

Technology Demonstration
Prototype Development
Small scale manufacturing

Small businesses can use the technology on an appointment basis and staff at the TSCT will also provide advice on the application and use of these machines. Charges are levied for the usage of the equipment, but is largely subsidised.

• Electronic bar-tacking machine

• Electronic eyelet button-hole machine

• Cover seam machine

• Cover seam machine elasticating

• Merrow edge machine

• Hemming machine

• Embroidery machine and digitiser (for samples)

ULTRASONIC WELDING MACHINE

Welds synthetic fabrics using sound instead of stitching.

JET POCKET MACHINE

Improves jet pocket construction productivity from 10 mins per unit to 10 seconds per unit.

ELECTRONIC EYELET BUTTONHOLE

Used on coats, jeans and other products that require strengthening and stabalisation around the buttonhole.
