The International Association of Forensic Linguists (IAFL) is a professional and international association, concerned with the coordination of scientific research on language and the law or forensic linguistics. The membership and areas of expertise within the IAFL includes, but is not limited to, police investigative interviewing; language in the legal process; language as evidence /in evidence; authorship attribution; interpreting and translating legal texts. These conferences are graced by the attendance of scholars and researchers in the domains of language, law, anthropology, psychology, criminology, police science etc. from all over Europe, Asia, USA, African as well as academics and researchers from other parts of the globe. The Regional Conference of the International Association of the Forensic Linguists is the first to be held in the African continent, and South Africa (Cape Peninsula University of Technology in affiliation with Rhodes University) in particular is privileged to host the event.
